EUropean Scleroderma Trials And Research group (EUSTAR)

EUSTAR actively encourages and supports the development and conduct of clinical and basic science research in scleroderma

Who we are

The European Scleroderma Trials and Research group (EUSTAR) is an international research network consisting of over 200 scleroderma centers. Led by an elected Board of experts in the field, EUSTAR has been at the forefront of scleroderma research since its inception in 2004. Originally supported by EULAR (The European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology), EUSTAR now operates under the auspices of the World Scleroderma Foundation (WSF)

Our mission is to coordinate and enhance research activities aimed at improving the treatment, quality of life, and prognosis for patients with scleroderma worldwide.

At the heart of our research efforts is a comprehensive multicenter online database/registry, which houses data from more than 23,000 scleroderma patients across 200+ international EUSTAR centers. Each patient’s annual medical visit is recorded, providing invaluable longitudinal observational data.

Given the rarity of scleroderma, this collaborative database is crucial for analysing large and diverse datasets. EUSTAR centers can apply for access to anonymised datasets for specific clinical projects, which often result in abstracts presented at international conferences and publications in peer-reviewed journals.

EUSTAR is also committed to education and raising awareness about scleroderma. Our Young Investigators Group nurtures emerging experts in the field, and our EUSTAR course offers in-depth training and knowledge sharing.
